About Me

SOME OF MY WORK

Post 26/11 a few Corporate houses decided that they wanted to empower their employees with Grief Counseling and Crisis Management Programs. Sinara Education was one of them. They ran an open to anyone one-day workshop where I taught crisis management. Since I didn’t want it to be too gloomy, a dose of How to Live Life Enthusiastically was integrated into the workshop.

My stint with the health website Wellinformed.com, Hyderabad, came to an end. Unfortunately the website couldn’t sustain itself due to the slowdown. It was a rich experience for me because it made me put on my thinking cap. I had to churn out one article per week, writing on mental health issues plaguing society.

A short lecture at the Bombay Psychiatric Society on the use of REBT with Psychotics helped me interact with members of my fraternity.

Mahindra Finance, a corporate house used my services to train middle management in the Art of Managing Distress. In the next few months – having come out with an innovative idea of using wives / girlfriends of managers as stress busters – we will have a program on Using Partners as Stress Busters!

My Sex and Relationship column in Femina garners good feedback and I have many people writing in with their difficulties.

Deccan Chronicle roped me in as their relationship columnist for the Sunday edition of their periodical.

Bhaskar Lakhsya – a Hindi career magazine launched by the famous Dainik Bhaskar group, took me on as a monthly contributor. No, I cannot write in Hindi, so my work is translated and put up!

UTVI, a business television channel shot with me a few episodes for their program ‘I Will Survive’. A show for working women teaching them to cope with various challenges. Topics included Dealing with Difficult Teens, Should we leave kids in crčches, etc.

BBC Worldwide approached me to screen and evaluate participants for their reality show, besides using my services to develop a compatibility quotient questionnaire. The Terence Lewis Academy of Dance and Fitness (TLADF) used my services to train their senior board members on becoming more efficient and productive at work.

DNA, Bombay Times, The Mumbai Mirror, are other periodicals where my views on current affairs related to mental health feature.

Professional practice, both at the Lilavati Hospital and at my private clinic continues. I consider myself a mental health activist and I hope some of my work is making some difference to enrich and help people live healthier, happier lives. If I achieve that, I would consider my life well lived!
